🚨Service Restoration Update from CarolinaConnect powered by Aiken Electric Cooperative🚨

Our teams have been working on fiber repairs alongside power restoration since the very beginning. The damage we’re seeing in fiber routes directly correlates with the damage from power restoration. For example, Edgefield District, which experienced the most damage to powerlines, also suffered the most extensive fiber damage. As a result, delays should be expected in these heavily impacted areas, including McCormick, Plum Branch, Sweetwater, North Augusta, Graniteville, and Trenton. In many of these locations, we are having to completely rebuild, as fiber has been ripped from power poles, and the repair process is more complex than fixing powerlines.

Important:
📞 There is no need to call us about your outages—our system has already identified affected homes and calling will not speed up the process. We are working through a comprehensive list of all impacted homes (pictured).

Restoration is a time-consuming process, especially for fiber optic repairs, which involve delicate splicing that can take up to 16 hours per splice, followed by 3-4 hours of testing. While fiber cannot be repaired as quickly as powerlines, we are making steady progress.

Remember: Power must be restored first before internet services can be addressed. We hope to have an estimated timeline for full restoration soon.
